The emphasis is on songs from the Great American Songbook. Rarely played compositions, from Wayne Shorter’s “Pay as you go“ till Isla Eckinger’s “A Moment in Montreux“, organically embed themselves in a melodic and versatile repertoire. Admiring the music is the starting point. The unsophisticated, unsought and rhythmically direct expression of their play lets the orchestral and harmonic tradition to emerge, leaving enough space to fill with improvisation. The unpretentious and rich whole is what makes this music so emphatic and alluring.
